The importance of prayer
I pray and I live my prayer therefore I believe
I think that my belief experience began when I learned how to pray, when I learned how to sit by myself with God? It took a long time to learn this.
In the beginning I prayed like many people do, I went to church because my parents asked me to go. But everything changed when I understood what is the meaning of my relationship with God.
First, I received my faith from my family. I am sure their seed was good, but after awhile I heard in the preaching:
'' Every one must have a test for his faith experience
with God, everyone must transform or move from his parent's faith to a personal faith". From these words I began to look for my faith. I tried many ways - service in church, service for handicapped or orphans, catechism, ……….etc.
I know these things were very good and useful for my experience, but I was feeling I had lost an important thing. Then I discovered I did not have relationship with God by prayer.
Now as for me the prayer is the basis of my relationship with God. I know I took a longtime to learn how to pray, but now I can say I believe. I know I was doing some good things without special prayer but usually I was asking is this the faith?
Now I am convinced and perceive that:
- Prayer changes my mind to discover what God wants and needs or shows me God's will.
- Prayer is a long road but it is not a one-way street. Prayer is a relationship between God and me. so I need to make every effort to persevere.
- Prayer gives deep meaning for these good things that I was doing.
- Prayer gives peace and joy to continue our deeds or works in our life. And it helps us to pass the difficult situations.
I often was asking did prayer change the lord's mind and God's will? Or what does prayer do? Now I can say prayer helps me to accept and understand God's will. I feel during my prayer that God explains to me what he wants and needs from me, and shows his plans in prayer.
Finally, I do not speak and write about prayer with God but I also speak about how to live this prayer in my life. How do I translate my relationship with God in life's action? How do I say to my self really I pray and at the same time I feel I live my prayer with others.
I believe Prayer is an invitation or call from God and a response from me.
